You will be picked up from the airport and embark on a picturesque journey towards the Costa Rica coast and to one of our many splendid Jaco hotels.

Today you will be taken to the 4,700-hectare Carara National Reserve located on the Pacific, on the margins Grande de Tarcoles River. The Carara National Reserve is special due to its unique ecosystems caused by its location in a transition zone between the dry and tropical forests of Costa Rica’s north Pacific region. As a result, this reserve protects ecosystems not found in any other conservation area.

The Carara Reserve was created to facilitate investigations, scientific studies and environment education. It is a fascinating living laboratory in which you can examine the structure and function of the tropical ecosystems. Carara is home to a variety of bird species such as the highly endangered lapa roja, as well as the pavon, hummingbird and the tucancillo, not to mention its most famous resident, the scarlet macaw. Also competing for your attention are countless amphibians and reptiles plus lilies and others water plants which cover the lagoon. Hiding in the trees are the saino, the sosa caballo, the martillo, the guatusa, the pizote, the racoon, the manigordo, the whiteface monkey, the two-fingered sloth, the tolomuco, deer and the four-eyed fox, all hiding throughout this breathtaking reserve. As if that wasn’t enough for one trip, Carara also boasts several indigenous villages which the inquisitive traveler can visit for a glimpse of Costa Rican life before the Spanish arrived.

Alter your visit, you will be shuttled back to your relaxing Jaco hotel to spend the remainder of your day at your leisure!

After enjoying a tasty breakfast, you will set out to enjoy the day as you wish in the bustling beach town of Jaco. Explore the true meaning behind the Costa Rica catchphrase ‘pura vida’ as you relax in the sands or ride the waves. You will also have the opportunity to take advantage of a half or whole-day guided tour or activity from our list of additional services below!

After a final delicious breakfast provided by your hotel, you will bid farewell to Jaco as we transfer you to the airport where you may continue your journey in Costa Rica or go on to one of our many other South American destinations or return home.
